“Create in me a clean heart, O God”….

Many of you have read these words of King David in Psalms 51. I know I am in constant need of a clean heart because I have deeply hurt people as well been deeply hurt by people.

Our sin can sometimes convince us that we are no good. No matter how much we have prayed and sought forgiveness, we can believe that those sins of the past will forever define us. While it is true that sin can damage your heart and hurt relationships, sin can and is cleansed by the blood of Christ.

Just as David did, we need to cry out that God would “Create in me (us) a clean heart.” I have come to believe that only thru crying out to God, can we truly over come sin. Sin wants us to believe the lie, that God will never make all things right.

If you have failed in the past, been hurt by people, or hurt people with your words or actions, cry out to God. Cry out that He will give you a clean heart. Cry out that you will over come the power of sin in your life. Cry out for the ones who have hurt you or the ones you have hurt.

It may not repair the damage that was done in this lifetime, but you will have a new heart, and one day all will be made right.
